Flappy bird prototype - Game Development Mini Degree
A downloadable game for Windows
In this project, we created a Flappy Bird–style tap-to-fly prototype using Unity.
The goal was to learn input handling, physics-based movement, obstacle spawning, scoring, and game loop structure - while keeping the scope small and publishable.
This is Prototype #2 in the CSGD mini degree prototype series.
What I Learned
During this mini project, I practiced,
- Rigidbody2D impulse movement
- Tap / Click / Space input handling
- Obstacle pipe spawning
- Trigger-based scoring
- Game Over & Restart flow
- Parallax / scrolling world
- Publishing a WebGL build to itch.io
Core Features
- Tap to fly
- Random pipe spawner
- Score increments when passing pipes
- Collision => Game Over
- Restart button / key
- Scrolling background
Built With
- Unity (2D)
- C# Scripting
Part of a Prototype Series
This game is one of the weekly prototypes developed in the Game Development Mini Degree at Ceylon School of Game Design (CSGD).
Each prototype focuses on a single core mechanic to build real development skills, one step at a time.
How to Play
- Keep on Pressing Space
- Avoid the pipes
- Try to beat your highest score!
